A concept for Van Berlo (2018)
Public interactive light installation

Project overview
In this project with the design agency Van Berlo, we were asked to deliver a concept for a public interactive light installation. We focused on three main points: experience a feeling of safety at night, experience a transition to another part of the city and experience a playful connection with other cyclists and pedestrians. From many ideas, three were presented to Van Berlo. One of those concepts was ‘The organism’. This concept mainly targeted the experience of the feeling of safety at night. The public interactive light installation could become more playful by means of a visualized moving organism. The organism of light could greet pedestrians and cyclists when entering the installation to recreate a playful atmosphere. This concept was also based upon user experience theories. The full report on this can be accessed via the blue button below.
My contribution
Together with others, we were able to translate social theories and especially UX theories to this design case. I made many customer journeys to get deep insides in the user experience in this public installation. It broadened my perspective and has certainly been useful in the design of many other projects hereafter.
